Exploring Cooperation Across All Offshore Wind Sectors Including Substructures and Subsea Cables and Joint Expansion into Third Countries
[Asia Economy Reporter Sunmi Park] KOTRA is celebrating its 60th anniversary by hosting the ‘Korea-Europe K-Wind Energy’ event from the 23rd to the 30th of this month. The event aims to expand project cooperation beyond Korea and Europe to third countries through strategic partnerships between European offshore wind global companies and domestic firms.
According to KOTRA on the 22nd, an online briefing session to enhance understanding of offshore wind industry trends and cooperation demands between the two countries will be held on the 23rd, followed by a five-day one-on-one online and offline consultation between domestic and global companies starting on the 24th.
In the first session of the online briefing, leading European offshore wind companies ▲Vestas ▲Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) ▲Equinor will explain their procurement policies and cooperation demands to facilitate Korean companies’ entry into the global supply chain and project collaboration. Domestic company ▲CS Wind will introduce global cooperation cases.
In the second session, experts from ▲Korea Energy Agency ▲Korea South-East Power ▲Export-Import Bank of Korea will provide an overview of the Korean wind power industry trends, key policies, and financial support systems to European companies interested in building partnerships with Korean firms.
From the 24th, more than 20 Korean companies will engage in consultations related to offshore wind power project development, construction, and equipment supply with about 10 European companies, including Ørsted, the world’s number one offshore wind company from Denmark, through online and offline meetings.
Hong Dooyoung, Head of KOTRA Copenhagen Trade Office, stated, “Europe is currently undergoing a rapid energy transition due to climate change response and the Ukraine crisis, with active development of renewable energy projects such as offshore wind and hydrogen. We will actively support our companies in establishing cooperative relationships with European offshore wind firms and expanding their entry into the global offshore wind industry through this event.”
