Former Emergency Committee Chair Park Ji-hyun Refutes Remarks on "Fandom Intoxication" and "Chumrokhoe Dissolution"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 22nd, Kim Nam-guk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, directly criticized former emergency committee chair Park Ji-hyun, saying, “Compared to Lee Jun-seok, the party leader, her remarks seem much more stubbornly trapped in her own views, which is regrettable.” Regarding the disciplinary case related to Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, over allegations of sexual bribery and evidence tampering, he said, “I believe the disciplinary action should be at a much higher level than the six-month suspension of lawmaker Choi Kang-wook’s party membership.”
On the same day, appearing on CBS Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show, Representative Kim said, “I think it is very important that former emergency committee chair Park does not stubbornly insist that only her own thoughts are correct.” He also added, “I think there should be a procedure to confirm through votes how many people sympathize with and support what Park is advocating.”
Regarding the dissolution of Cheoreomhoe and fandom issues raised by former chair Park Ji-hyun, he rebutted, “Cheoreomhoe did not engage in parliamentary activities swayed by factional politics or hardline supporters,” and said, “It is even more absurd to blame Cheoreomhoe for the defeat in the local elections and the presidential election.”
Concerning Park’s expression that she was ‘intoxicated by fandom,’ he criticized, “I think it is rather Park herself who is intoxicated by fandom. She is dancing while intoxicated by her own fandom and making contradictory claims.”
Regarding the disciplinary case against Lee, he said, “The currently reported details, witness testimonies, and suspicions that Kim Cheol-geun, the chief political secretary considered a close aide during the presidential election process, wrote a memorandum for 700 million won to cover up the matter are all emerging,” adding, “Considering all these comprehensively, the matter is more serious. Shouldn’t the conclusion be serious and grave?”
Representative Kim said, “The allegations raised by the Garosero Research Institute were based on investigative records, which can be considered ‘official records,’ so the content is very specific,” and added, “Because it is an ethical issue, it is appropriate to impose a high-level disciplinary action before any judicial judgment.”
