Uljin 9th Korea Sports Council President's Cup National Jokgu Tournament for Cities and Provinces 'Adieu'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, held the 9th Korea Sports Council President's Cup National Jokgu Competition between Provinces at Uljin Sports Complex over two days from the 18th to the 19th.

Hosted by the Korea Jokgu Association and organized by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Jokgu Association and Uljin-gun Jokgu Association, this tournament saw passionate competition with about 1,200 players from 116 teams nationwide participating. The championship was won by Gyeongsangbuk-do, runner-up was Gyeongsangnam-do, and third place went to Gangwon-do.

Jeon Chan-geol, the mayor of Uljin-gun, said, "Leaving behind the days when we were greatly restrained due to COVID-19, successfully holding the tournament in the pristine Uljin has become an opportunity to revitalize the local economy and widely promote tourism in Uljin."

The mayor added, "I hope this tournament will serve as a festival that fosters harmony among club members, improves individual physical fitness, and lays the foundation for expanding the base of Jokgu."

Jokgu enthusiasts nationwide voluntarily raised funds to support the victims affected by the large wildfire that occurred in Uljin-gun in March, donating a total of 44 million won.
