[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SK Networks' comprehensive vehicle management brand Speedmate announced on the 21st that it has signed a business partnership agreement with Mintec and Eva to develop an emergency charging service for electric vehicles.
Under this partnership, emergency dispatch vehicles currently in operation will be equipped with electric vehicle charging equipment to provide on-site charging services in response to customer requests received through partner insurance companies. The service will start this year in Jeju and, after refining operational procedures, will be expanded nationwide next year. Mintec is developing mobile batteries for electric vehicles using battery diagnostic technology, while Eva is providing technical consulting for the service with its mobile charger technology.
The batteries used in the service are SK On products, compatible with all manufacturers and vehicle models. A company official stated, "Compared to the existing method of towing electric vehicles to the nearest charging station when the battery is depleted, this service will significantly reduce costs and time required."
