Seongnam City Provides 'Emergency Living Support Fund' to 25,000 People Seongnam City Hall


[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide emergency living support funds temporarily to ease the livelihood burden of low-income households due to rapid inflation.


The recipients include 25,000 people as of the 29th of last month, such as National Basic Livelihood Security recipients, legally designated near-poor classes, and single-parent families receiving child-rearing support. The project budget is a total of 12.6 billion KRW, fully funded by the national government.


The payment amount ranges from 300,000 to 1,450,000 KRW depending on eligibility and household size. The amount will be loaded onto prepaid cards that can only be used in the Seongnam area. The usage period is until the end of this year.


Eligible recipients can visit their local administrative welfare center with identification from the 27th of this month to the 29th of next month. National Basic Livelihood Security facility recipients will receive the subsidy in the form of grants at the respective facilities.


A city official stated, "This support project is promoted at the pan-government level to reduce the livelihood burden on low-income households," adding, "It is expected to help revitalize the local economy by increasing consumption."
