Busan Sports Council and BNK Savings Bank Sign Agreement to Support Modern Pentathlon Corporate Team

Busan Sports Council and BNK Savings Bank Sign Agreement to Support Modern Pentathlon Corporate Team Busan Sports Council, BNK Savings Bank officials, and Modern Pentathlon professional team athletes are taking a group commemorative photo after the support agreement ceremony.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Sports Council held a sponsorship agreement ceremony for the Busan Metropolitan City Sports Council-BNK Savings Bank Modern Pentathlon Corporate Team on the 17th at the council's medium conference room.

The modern pentathlon consists of five events?fencing, swimming, equestrian, shooting, and athletics?all conducted in one day, with the total score calculated by summing the points from each event to determine the ranking.

BNK Savings Bank chose the modern pentathlon as a sport that aligns with its management philosophy of becoming a global top-tier regional financial group and its vision of aspiring to be a global standard financial group with the highest level of competitiveness.

Since 2020, the bank has been supporting the Busan Sports Council's modern pentathlon team by providing operating expenses for athletes, equipment, training uniforms, and other necessary items to create an environment where promising athletes can focus on their training and to promote less popular sports.

Until 2020, the modern pentathlon team consisted of three female athletes, but with BNK Savings Bank's support, three male athletes?Kim Se-dong, Moon Joo-seong, and Son Jeong-bin?were recruited last year, and the team now operates as a mixed team. Since 2021, the team has been renamed the "BNK Savings Bank Modern Pentathlon Team" and has participated in various competitions.

National representatives Jung Min-ah and Kim Se-hee, silver medalists at the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games, have elevated Busan's status by winning first place individually and as a team at the 2019 Modern Pentathlon Asian Championships and first place as a team at the 2021 World Championships.

Jang In-hwa, president of the Busan Sports Council, stated, "We expect BNK Financial Group's support to play a catalytic role in contributing to the goal of preserving a healthy sports ecosystem and encouraging participation from local companies representing Busan. We will also make further efforts to promote sports among citizens."
