[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Actress Lee Si-young, who has shown new sides through various challenges every time, has this time made history in women's mountain sports.

The Swiss Tourism Board announced on the 20th that more than 80 female mountaineers, including Lee Si-young, succeeded in creating the "world's longest human chain" at the summit of Breithorn Mountain (4,164m) in Valais, southern Switzerland, on the 27th of last month.

This event was one of the "100% Women" events hosted by the Swiss Tourism Board, which was announced on March 8 last year in celebration of International Women's Day, providing female mountaineers worldwide the opportunity to explore Swiss nature and encouraging new challenges for women. Originally planned to climb the Allalinhorn, the event was changed to Breithorn due to bad weather conditions.

The Swiss Tourism Board emphasized, "It awakens the abilities and potential of all women worldwide and carries the meaning of respecting the human rights and rights of all women in a broader sense."

Women from 25 countries around the world, including Europe, the United States, Iran, India, South Africa, Kazakhstan, and Ecuador, participated in the mountain climb. Three participants were from Korea, including Lee Si-young.

Lee Si-young said, "I feel very honored to participate in this event supporting new challenges for women," adding, "I am happy to have achieved a world record together with various female mountaineers worldwide and to have completed this climb safely and successfully."

She also posted on her Instagram, saying, "Training day '100% women' campaign. Rehearsal training the day before the world record challenge," along with a video showing her climbing the snow-covered mountains of Switzerland.

Lee Si-young was selected as the 2022-2023 Swiss Government Tourism Ambassador "Swiss Friends" in January. The Swiss Government Tourism Board has been selecting Swiss Friends every two years since 2003.

Meanwhile, Lee Si-young participated in amateur boxing competitions from 2011 to 2012, winning several championships, and officially joined the Incheon City Hall boxing team as a professional athlete in January 2013. She was selected as a national representative after winning the national team selection in April of the same year but retired in 2015.

Since then, she has attracted attention by revealing herself riding a motorcycle in 2020 and showing photos of skydiving in 2021, demonstrating her challenging spirit.
