[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] “If my small donation can provide local seniors with a warm and healthy meal and bring them joy, that itself is a great happiness for me.”
Jung Jeong-o (47), CEO of Heuksarang Agricultural Cooperative Corporation in Wolya-myeon, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, who has been donating for several years, expressed his intention to continue practicing local love and sharing whenever possible.
The Wolya-myeon Free Meal Service Center, operated by the Wolya-myeon Red Cross (Chairman Ki Hyonam) for low-income seniors, reopened last month, and the warmth of the local community continues to flow here, drawing attention.
On the 20th, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that CEO Jung Jeong-o donated 1 million won for rice purchases and one pig (worth about 600,000 won) to the senior meal service center.
Originally from Daedong-myeon, Hampyeong, CEO Jung operates a livestock manure treatment business in Wolak-ri, Wolya-myeon, and not only made this donation but also practices sharing warmth with neighbors in need every year.
Jung also serves as the captain of the Wolya-myeon Welfare Mobile Unit, visiting families in need within the community every month with team members, taking on tough tasks such as cleaning, wallpaper and flooring replacement, and small-scale home repairs.
Additionally, he supports learning facilities for marginalized groups and multicultural families by providing full support for learning expenses and school supplies, benefiting more than ten local students annually.
Jung said, “Since my business is supported by the local residents, I believe it is natural to give back a certain portion to the community. Although I feel embarrassed that my volunteer work is being publicized, I hope my small beginning will help spread the culture of donation further in our region.”
County Governor Lee Sang-ik attended the donation ceremony and said, “I thank the donor who quietly lives a life of giving to local residents in need. The county will also do its best in welfare administration for marginalized groups to ensure no welfare blind spots occur.”
