Hapcheon-gun Strengthens Visit Health Management to Prepare for Summer Heatwaves... Advises Avoiding Excessive Exercise and Outdoor Activities Health Management Training for Summer Heatwave Preparedness.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Hapcheon-gun Public Health Center in Gyeongnam is strengthening home visit health management for vulnerable groups in preparation for the summer heatwave season, which is beginning in earnest.

As the average temperature this summer is expected to be higher than usual, they have decided to enhance home visit health management to minimize health damage to vulnerable groups caused by the heatwave.

Home visit health management specialists will continuously check the health status of vulnerable groups through welfare calls and text messages, visit village halls and the homes of target individuals to distribute heatwave preparedness supplies, and provide education on summer health management guidelines and emergency measures for heat-related illnesses.

If a heat-related illness occurs, the patient should be immediately moved to a cool place, and their clothing loosened to help cool the body.

If the patient is unconscious, forcing them to drink fluids can cause choking, so caution is required. Promptly report to 119 to ensure the patient is transported to a hospital.

Lee Mi-kyung, the head of the Public Health Center, said, “During heatwaves, it is necessary to avoid strenuous exercise and outdoor activities, and to pay special attention to health management by drinking water frequently,” adding, “We will work harder on health management promotion and education to prevent health damage caused by heatwaves.”
