[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] SK Gas announced on the 20th that it has resumed face-to-face volunteer activities following the lifting of 'social distancing' measures. The company plans to continue practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management according to the mid- to long-term comprehensive ESG plan announced last year.

On the 17th, SK Gas reported that a total of 15 people, including ESG officer Kim Hanjo, participated in a meal support volunteer activity for vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone and homeless people at 'Anna's House,' a social welfare foundation in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. Last year, they only distributed lunch boxes, but this year they volunteered in meal service at the dining hall.

SK Gas donated 450 million KRW to support meal services for vulnerable groups at Anna's House. This amount can provide one meal daily for 600 people for a year. Going forward, they plan to conduct regular monthly volunteer activities and collect and donate clothes from members twice a year.

The face-to-face volunteer activities are part of SK Gas's ESG mid- to long-term plan announced last year. Focusing on three support directions?'green, health, and vulnerable groups'?the company has set key points for this year's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities: regular volunteer participation by members, strengthening social safety nets through zero hunger initiatives, eco-friendly ecological protection and urban forest creation, and community-specific programs. They are encouraging members to participate in volunteer activities once a year. They consistently carry out face-to-face volunteer activities at Anna's House, one-company-one-coastline cleanup activities, and non-face-to-face volunteer activities such as donating electronic Braille books for the visually impaired.

As part of the 'zero hunger' initiative, SK Gas is considering expanding the regions supported for lunch box donations to children at risk of hunger through the Happy Alliance, a social contribution coalition of SK Group, in addition to volunteer activities at Anna's House this year. Previously, in July last year, SK Gas donated funds through the Happy Alliance and delivered Happy Lunch Boxes to about 50 children at risk of hunger in Haeundae-gu, Busan, until April. The 'ecological protection and urban forest creation' initiative involves eco-friendly activities to create forests near SK Gas business sites. Since 2020, SK Gas has been conducting 'ecological science explorations' with local citizens in cooperation with the National Institute of Ecology, and this year the program is being expanded. They are also strengthening cooperation beyond local governments to create clean forests.

The 'community-specific programs' are win-win programs with stakeholders in the communities where business sites are located. The 'Jigwan Seoga' book caf? built in Ulsan is a representative example. SK Gas is also actively participating in the SK Group-wide blood donation campaign 'Life Sharing On(Tact) Project,' which has been ongoing since the beginning of the year. SK Gas held blood donation events twice this year, in January and April.

An SK Gas official said, "As daily life returns to normal, it was a meaningful time to share warm affection with neighbors," adding, "SK Gas will continue to strengthen the community safety net, actively promote win-win CSR activities, and practice ESG management."
