[Chuncheon=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Legoland Korea, the first global theme park in Korea, located on Hajungdo Island in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. At the entrance stands a four-story building that looks like it was made of Lego bricks. This is the Legoland Hotel, which will open next month. The Legoland Hotel has decorated every space visitors encounter?from the massive Lego-like exterior, the lobby which is the hotel's first impression, elevators, hallways, to the guest rooms and entertainment facilities?as a 'playground with Lego.'
Despite the cloudy weather on the 16th, visitors to Legoland Theme Park were taking photos of their children with the Legoland Hotel as the backdrop. The children posed excitedly with joyful expressions. The main target customers of the Legoland Hotel are families with children aged 2 to 12 years old. From the entrance, large mascots made of Lego bricks, Lego picture frames, and Lego chandeliers welcome the children. While adults check in, a Brick Pit filled with Lego bricks is provided so children can engage in simple building activities and play. Inside the lobby, there is a famous feature of Legoland Hotels worldwide: the Minifigure Wall. It displays 4,023 minifigures in various appearances, which visitors can examine using a movable magnifying glass installed nearby. Adjacent to this is a passageway leading to the park. Hotel guests can access the park through this passage without long waits at the entrance.
When boarding the elevator to move to guest rooms, colorful Lego backgrounds and lighting accompany music playing. This is the 'Disco Elevator.' The hotel explained, "We introduced this to provide continuous enjoyment to visitors even during transit." The 154 guest rooms are themed with four popular Lego series: Kingdom, Pirate, Ninjago, and Friends. It felt as if every room was an event room, which hotels usually provide only a few of for children. Rooms are categorized into Premium, Suite, and Deluxe Suite based on size and location.
Upon entering the room, the children's area with bunk beds, a TV, and Lego bricks immediately catches the eye. Passing through a corridor next to the bathroom leads to a shared bedroom with the main bed. The popular 'Treasure Hunt' event, a favorite program at Legoland Hotels worldwide, is also available in every room. By solving quizzes using various hidden clues inside the room, guests can unlock the password to a treasure chest containing Lego gifts.
On the hotel's second floor, there is an 'Adventure Play' area featuring popular Lego series such as a large ship-shaped slide, as well as a educational space called the 'Creative Workshop,' where Lego Master Builders teach Lego brick assembly. Additionally, there is a toddler pool called 'Water Play,' a souvenir shop named 'Mini Big Shop,' a 'Bricks Family Restaurant' serving breakfast and dinner, and a lounge bar called 'Skyline Lounge.' Phil Royle, President of Legoland Korea Resort, said, "We hope children feel like they have a 'secret base' from the moment they enter the hotel until they fall asleep on the bunk beds in their rooms, and that adults have a precious experience to recover their forgotten childhood innocence."
