Hwasun-gun Supports 'Lifelong Learning Clubs' to Establish Lifelong Education Culture

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) is taking steps to support excellent lifelong learning clubs in the region to establish a lifelong education culture.

On the 16th, Hwasun County announced that it will recruit 32 clubs to participate in the '2022 Lifelong Learning Club Support Project' to promote the formation of voluntary learning communities and the creation of a lifelong learning culture.

The recruitment period is from the 20th to the 29th of this month.

Clubs composed of 10 or more Hwasun residents can apply. However, they must conduct regular activities at least twice a month and be able to prove more than three months of activity experience prior to the announcement date (June 20, 2022).

Clubs that are simple gatherings for hobbies, leisure activities, profit-oriented purposes, or those that do not engage in autonomous activities beyond attending the same course are excluded.

The county plans to select excellent clubs in three categories: ▲ (Advanced) learning-type clubs that study and explore specific topics ▲ social participation-type clubs such as talent donation ▲ problem-solving-type clubs that discuss and research local community issues, and provide subsidies.

The subsidy is up to 1.25 million KRW per club, and selected clubs can use it for operating expenses such as instructor fees, material costs, and practice fees until December this year.

Clubs wishing to participate can apply by visiting or mailing the General Affairs Division of Hwasun County Office with the application form and required documents posted on the 'Notices and Announcements' section of the Hwasun County website.

A Hwasun County official said, "We expect lifelong learning led by residents to become more active," and added, "We hope for much interest and participation from local club members."
