[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Musical performances by students majoring in Musical Theatre in the Vocal Music and Musical Department at Mokwon University will be held in Daegu.

According to the university on the 16th, the musical major students will perform the musical "Yurintown (Ojummaeul)" on the stage of the "University Musical Festival" held at the Daegu Culture and Arts Center on the 25th.

Yurintown is a work depicting the people's uprising against a monopolistic company that does not even allow residents to urinate freely, set in a fictional village suffering from water shortage. It satirizes the absurdities of politicians and businessmen who try to raise restroom usage fees and delivers social criticism.

Before this main performance, the musical major students were invited as representatives of the university student division at the "2022 Suseong Lake Musical Fringe Festival (SMFF)" held in Daegu from the 25th to the 28th of last month, where they performed Yurintown and received favorable reviews from the audience.

They also gained recognition for their skills by winning the grand prize at the 2018 Daegu Musical Festival (DIMF) and the highest award at the 2019 Daegu Musical Festival (DIMF).

Yurintown will also be performed at the Mokwon University Concert Hall on the 15th and 16th.

Park Moon-hee, head of the Vocal Music and Musical Department at Mokwon University, said, "The actors (students) on stage worked hard to deliver a performance that provides enjoyment to the audience while conveying social satire and messages," adding, "At the venue, the audience will have the opportunity to appreciate both the seriousness of the actors and the comedic elements of the satire."
