2022 Namwon Open Kendo Tournament to be Held from the 17th

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] The '2022 Namwon Open Kendo Tournament, the 30th Memorial Kendo Tournament for Teacher Jo Byung-yong,' which could not be held for two years due to COVID-19, will be grandly held from the 17th to the 19th at Namwon Chunhyang-gol Gymnasium.

As COVID-19 has not been completely eradicated, the Namwon Open International Kendo Tournament, the only one held in South Korea, will be held this time as a nationwide competition.

More than 2,000 players from 227 teams across 17 cities and provinces nationwide have registered to compete, each showcasing their honed skills. In particular, the tournament will be held by categories symbolizing and differentiating regions, such as the Kindergarten Division, Heungbu Division, and Chunhyang Division.

Yang Hae-jun, President of the Namwon City Kendo Association, said, "We will do our best to ensure that kendo practitioners from all over the country who visit Namwon do not experience any inconvenience during the tournament period, and that the tournament will be of a high standard befitting the reputation it has maintained so far."
