[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 16th that a large-scale rally and march will take place in downtown Seoul, causing expected traffic congestion, and urged citizens to use public transportation.
According to the police, starting from 1:30 PM that day, a "Resolution Rally Condemning Public Security Oppression" organized by the Construction Workers' Union will be held at Seoul Station Plaza. Afterwards, about 6,000 participants will march using two lanes from Seoul Station, passing through Sookdae Entrance to Samgakji Station rotary area.
The police plan to install 20 guide signboards around the rally and march routes and deploy about 150 personnel, including traffic police, to manage traffic. A police official stated, "Traffic congestion is expected on Hangang-daero from Samgakji to Seoul Station," and added, "Please use public transportation such as the subway as much as possible, and if driving is unavoidable, please detour congested areas and follow the traffic police's hand signals carefully."
