[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Ryoo Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, grabbed a broom again on the 15th together with residents.

This was the first alley cleaning after his re-election.

Since taking office in July 2018, Ryoo Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, has been conducting morning alley cleanings with residents. He reached the 100th session last December and continued without a break up to the 106th session before the local elections, sweeping various parts of the district and communicating with residents.

On this day, the cleaning started at Myeonmok 3·8-dong Community Center and proceeded around Sagajeong Station Plaza, thoroughly cleaning a distance of 610 meters. Meeting with participating residents at 7:30 a.m., Mayor Ryoo said, “Thank you for coming out early to clean the neighborhood despite the bad weather. I will do my best to make Jungnang-gu the cleanest district in Seoul,” showing strong determination for the administration of the 8th local government term.

The alley cleaning with residents led by Mayor Ryoo has so far involved 3,056 participants and cleaned a distance of 90.7 km.

It is reported that Mayor Ryoo’s consistent alley cleaning since taking office was well received by residents and became a factor in his landslide victory in the June 1 local elections.
