[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 15th, Jinju City in Gyeongnam held the ‘2022 2nd Quarter Jinju Innovation City Relocated Public Institutions Working Council’ at the Small and Medium Business Corporation’s main conference room.
The Jinju Innovation City Relocated Public Institutions Working Council, established in 2015 with city officials, relocated public institutions, and related agency staff as its core members, has served as a communication channel for the development of the innovation city and improvement of residential conditions.
Due to difficulties in holding face-to-face meetings over the past two years amid the spread of COVID-19, meetings were conducted in writing, but with the recent easing of the pandemic, the 2nd quarter meeting was held in person.
At the meeting, officials from the city and member institutions of the council including Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Small and Medium Business Corporation, Defense Technology Quality Institute, Korea Ceramic Technology Institute, Korea Testing Laboratory, National Land Safety Management Institute, Korea Elevator Safety Agency, Korea Copyright Commission, Housing Management Corporation, Central Customs Analysis Office, Defense Technology Quality Institute, and related agencies such as Jinju Fire Station attended to share cooperation and proposals among institutions for the development of the innovation city.
In the meeting, in-depth discussions were held on activating the Jinju Innovation City cluster site and inter-agency cooperation for creating a cultural city, and the city plans to carefully review the matters mentioned in the meeting to reflect them in its policies.
A Jinju City official said, “With the launch of the new government, there are pressing tasks such as the second relocation of metropolitan public institutions,” and added, “We will strengthen cooperation with innovation city public institutions to enable the development of the innovation city and western Gyeongnam.”
The city is actively reflecting the proposals made through the council in its policies, achieving concrete results in improving residential conditions such as creating Mul Chuwool Park and constructing a complex cultural library (scheduled for completion in 2024).
