Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Agreement Signing and Infrastructure Development for Smart City Model Creation
[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 14th, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the project to create a regional hub smart city in the Solarsido Enterprise City is gaining momentum.
The county signed an agreement with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to promote the ‘2022 Regional Hub Smart City Creation Project’ and established a detailed business plan.
The Regional Hub Smart City Creation Project is an integrated smart city model that aims to fundamentally transform cities by building smart infrastructure and services to solve urban problems such as energy, transportation, safety, and environment centered on regional hubs.
Haenam-gun was selected last December through a joint participation of Jeollanam-do and Seonamhaean Enterprise City Development Co., Ltd. in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s public contest. This year, after consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the project plan was established focusing on the regional hub smart city spatial plan and the construction of smart city infrastructure and services, leading to the signing of this agreement.
From 2022 to 2024, over three years, a total project cost of 26 billion KRW will be invested in the 695,000㎡ (210,000 pyeong) area of Solarsido Enterprise City, including 12 billion KRW in national funds, 12 billion KRW in local funds, and 2 billion KRW in private capital.
The Haenam-gun Regional Hub Smart City Creation Project aims to solve urban problems in the enterprise city by establishing services and infrastructure in four areas: transportation, tourism and crime prevention, energy, and medical care. It is characterized by planning a convenient smart city where nature, technology, and people coexist, and an eco-friendly renewable energy smart city utilizing innovative technology based on clean energy.
Detailed projects include autonomous shuttle buses, EV fast-charging infrastructure linked with solar power ESS, metaverse entertainment, digital healthcare-based remote collaborative medical care, and solar-powered compressed trash bins.
Additionally, by building a data hub, various urban data necessary for policy-making by administrative agencies will be collected and analyzed to establish a foundation for smart city operation.
The county plans to establish an implementation plan based on the project plan by December, obtain approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and aims to start construction early next year.
Myung Hyun-gwan, Haenam County Governor, said, “We will build smart infrastructure in Solarsido Enterprise City to solve urban problems in the newly developed city, and by introducing innovative technologies in addition to the eco-friendly garden city, we will create a new smart city model.”
