SKT Revamps PASS App... Added Electronic Certificate Issuance Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] SK Telecom announced on the 13th that it has revamped its digital certificate issuance and submission service 'Initial' to be available on the identity verification service application PASS (hereinafter PASS app) as well.

SKT's 'Initial' is a service utilizing blockchain infrastructure and decentralized identifier (DID) technology, allowing users to securely receive various electronic certificates on their devices and easily submit them to required institutions through the app.

SKT explained that since the 'Initial' service is now available not only on the 'Initial' app but also on the PASS app, more customers will be able to use the electronic certificate service.

The 'Initial' credential and electronic document issuance application function on the PASS app can be accessed by clicking the electronic document icon on the home screen after updating the PASS app.

SKT customers can use the electronic certificate services including issuance, inquiry, and submission of 56 types of government electronic document wallet certificates frequently used in daily life, such as resident registration certificate, abstract, building register, land (forest) register, vehicle registration, and local tax payment certificates through PASS.

Starting with the 'Initial' service, SKT plans to continuously expand the customer base for electronic certificate services by applying asset management services based on MyData and digital assets not only to PASS but also to multiple apps.

To this end, SKT plans to add service functions necessary for digital asset management to the 'Initial' app in the second half of this year.
