[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated that "resolving issues between Korea and Japan, including the problem of Korean Peninsula-origin workers (victims of forced mobilization), is an urgent task," NHK and others reported on the 11th.

According to the report, Prime Minister Kishida visited Singapore yesterday to attend the Asia Security Conference and said regarding Korea-Japan relations, "I believe it is necessary to develop Korea-Japan relations that have been built since the normalization of diplomatic relations in 1965."

Prime Minister Kishida also said, "To restore Korea-Japan relations to a healthy state, Japan will seek communication with the new administration (referring to the Yoon Suk-yeol government) based on Japan's consistent position so far."

Regarding the possibility of a summit meeting between President Yoon Suk-yeol and Prime Minister Kishida on the occasion of the NATO summit to be held in Spain at the end of this month, Kishida stated, "No specific schedule for the meeting has been decided."
