Actin Co., Ltd. Successfully Hosts 'K-Startup Grand Challenge Demo Day'

Actin Co., Ltd., an accelerator subsidiary of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Seokyeong University, announced that it successfully held the ‘K-Startup Grand Challenge Demo Day’ event on the 3rd at Seokyeong University Performing Arts Center Scon Hall 1.


Actin Co., Ltd. is participating as the lead organization in the ‘K-Startup Grand Challenge Accelerating Operation Project’ hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). This project aims to select outstanding overseas startups with excellent entrepreneurial items and technologies and support their settlement in Korea. To this end, it operates an audition-style startup competition program that provides overseas startups with facilities, education, investment, mentoring, and other support for domestic startup activities, as well as investment opportunities.


The ‘2021 K-Startup Grand Challenge’ received applications from 2,568 teams across a record 129 countries last year. Among them, 30 teams selected for the NIPA final Demo Day are provided with continuous support and investment linkage for entering and settling in the domestic market.


At the event, nine promising overseas startups including △Khenda △Scanderm △XP Fantasy △Founders Lair △Shush △Avidia Labs △Pi-xcels △Fitscovery △Altum, along with Actin AC, professors, students, and industry experts totaling 60 participants, conducted presentations using business plans, supplementary materials, and investment proposals refined through IR pitching training and mentoring.


Additionally, through this event, overseas startups shared the achievements they made while participating in the ‘K-Startup Grand Challenge Accelerating Operation Project’ as members of Actin, and had networking time with partners and investors. The mentors, judges, and investors who participated in the event exchanged diverse and in-depth opinions and advice on ways for overseas startups to successfully enter and generate results in the Korean market.


Lee Seok-hyung, CEO of Actin, stated, “Through this event, we were able to glimpse the capabilities and determination of overseas startups, and we will spare no effort to support their growth into global companies in Korea.”


Following this, Park Myung-jae, Director of Actin who hosted the event, said, “We plan to do our best to help overseas startups wishing to enter the domestic market analyze and supplement the strengths and weaknesses of their entrepreneurial items to successfully enter and settle in the domestic market.”
