"Excessive Quarantine Violates Citizens' Basic Rights"…Jeong Eun-kyung, Former Disease Control Chief, and 3 Others Sued The 'Vaccine Human Rights Action' group, which has opposed COVID-19 vaccinations, filed a complaint with the prosecution on the 8th against four current and former health officials, including former Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Woo-seok] The 'Vaccine Human Rights Action,' which has opposed COVID-19 vaccination, filed a complaint with the prosecution on the 8th against four current and former health officials.

The accused are a total of four individuals: Baek Kyung-ran, Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency; Jeong Eun-kyeong, former Commissioner; Son Young-rae, Head of the Social Strategy Division at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters; and Kim Kang-lip, former Commissioner of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The charges include abuse of authority, neglect of duty, and breach of trust.

Son Hyun-jun, a professor at Chungbuk National University College of Medicine and representative of Vaccine Human Rights Action, held a press conference in front of the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office on the same day, stating, "The accused implemented the vaccine pass, which forced vaccination through excessive quarantine policies that infringe on the basic rights of the people."

He claimed, "They blindly trusted the vaccine manufacturers and the United States' claims, neglected their official duties to protect the lives of the people without conducting independent investigations and judgments regarding side effects, and abused their health administrative power."

He further criticized, "They also committed breach of trust by exerting significant influence to contract excessive quantities according to the interests of vaccine manufacturers."

After the press conference, Vaccine Human Rights Action submitted the complaint to the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office.

In January, Vaccine Human Rights Action also held a protest against the government's application of the vaccine pass to department stores and large marts at a mart in Cheongju.
