Kyungbo Pharmaceutical Receives Asan City Commendation for Contributions to Community Development

Kyungbo Pharmaceutical Receives Asan City Commendation for Contributions to Community Development At the monthly meeting held at Asan City Hall on the 1st, Kim Dae-hyun, factory manager of Kyungbo Pharmaceutical (left), is receiving a certificate of commendation from Lee Tae-gyu, vice mayor of Asan City.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Kyungbo Pharmaceutical announced on the 8th that it received a commendation from Asan City, Chungnam Province, for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by using surplus steam and contributing to the development of the local community through various social contribution activities.

Last year, Kyungbo Pharmaceutical signed an agreement with Asan City to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and from this year, it has been receiving and using surplus steam generated at the Asan City Living Resource Processing Center at its Asan factory. By using surplus steam, it reduces greenhouse gas emissions by about 3,000 tons annually, improving the local environment, while Asan City is expected to earn approximately 400 million KRW in additional non-tax revenue annually from the sale of surplus steam.

Kyungbo Pharmaceutical is also conducting environmental cleanup campaigns to preserve the ecosystem and water quality of the streams around the factory through the ‘One Company, One Stream Care’ initiative, and participates in volunteer activities for socially marginalized groups in the community, such as ‘Housing Environment Improvement for Vulnerable Groups’ and ‘Nursing Home Volunteer Activities.’ A Kyungbo Pharmaceutical official stated, “We will continue to seek ways to coexist with the local community through cooperation with Asan City.”
