Seongnam City Supports Unmanned Mobile Vehicle Research Institute... Agreement with Morai Co., Ltd.

[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is stepping up support for research institutions focused on unmanned mobility such as autonomous driving.

On the 8th, Seongnam City announced that it will collaborate with Morai Co., Ltd., located in Pangyo, which has established the autonomous driving simulation platform 'SHARK,' to support startups, research institutes, and schools engaged in research and development of unmanned mobility including autonomous vehicles, drones, and robots.

On the same day, the city signed a business agreement at Morai's office to promote industrial development in the field of unmanned mobility such as autonomous vehicles.

According to the agreement, Morai will provide SHARK usage rights to 10 organizations selected by Seongnam City.

The supported institutions will be able to conduct simulated experiments on autonomous driving technologies by setting various conditions such as traffic, weather, and roads in a digital twin virtual space.

Developers will also receive technical training support.

The support targets unmanned mobility-related companies, research institutes, universities, and high schools in the Seongnam area. The Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency under the city will hold an open recruitment until the 24th.

A city official explained, "SHARK, supported by our partner Morai, can minimize physical testing for autonomous driving developers, drastically reducing the commercialization period," adding, "This will help us advance as a city specialized in unmanned mobility demonstration."
