Gokseong-gun Agricultural Specialties Captivate Visitors at Rose Festival

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jongseon] Jeonnam Gokseong-gun announced that it achieved sales of 260 million KRW by operating a sales booth for agricultural specialty products at the 12th Gokseong World Rose Festival.

From May 21 to June 6, over 17 days, Gokseong-gun held the rose festival for the first time in three years.

At the festival site in Train Village, a sales booth was operated where producers and consumers could meet directly to purchase agricultural specialty products.

Eighteen local farms (groups) participated, showcasing a total of 131 different agricultural specialty products and processed goods.

Visitors showed great interest in seasonal agricultural products, from the premium Gokseong melons that had just started shipping to Samgi fresh black glutinous corn.

Additionally, representative agricultural products of Gokseong-gun, such as black glutinous corn bread, taro bugak (fried taro chips), taro pie, Baeksemi cup nurungji (scorched rice), taro anggeum tteok (sweet rice cake), and melon anggeum tteok, all processed directly by the farmers, were sold out throughout the event.

As a result, the total sales performance of all participating farms amounted to approximately 260 million KRW.

In operating this agricultural specialty product sales booth, Gokseong-gun devoted great effort to quality control.

From the application stage, strict quality control conditions were imposed to enhance visitor satisfaction.

In fact, Gokseong-gun granted participation opportunities to farms (groups) recommended by each eup/myeon head among agricultural producers (groups) who have received eco-friendly and GAP certification and directly produce and process excellent agricultural products of Gokseong-gun.

They completed hygiene registration related to the sale of fresh and processed foods and composed sales items with excellent agricultural specialty products that well represent the unique characteristics of Gokseong-gun, differentiating them from other regions.

Furthermore, to maximize sales effects, they set up promotional booths for Baeksemi rice and Gokseong melons and actively supported operations such as free parcel delivery through the post office.

Following this agricultural specialty product sales event, Gokseong-gun plans to hold a win-win cooperation direct transaction market at Shinsegae Department Store Gwangju branch from June 21 to 30, 2022.

By promoting excellent local agricultural specialty products and selling them to department store visitors, it is expected that awareness of Gokseong agricultural products will be further enhanced.

A representative of the Gokseong-gun direct transaction market stated, “We will do our best to promote direct transaction markets and secure online and offline sales channels for agricultural products to support producers who are facing difficulties in sales.”
