What He Delivered Was More Than Just Mail... Yuyongsik Mail Carrier Donates 1 Million Won Scholarship to Needy Student

Yoo Yong-sik, a delivery worker at Dalseong Post Office, is donating a scholarship of 1 million won to the Gyeongsan Scholarship Foundation, asking that it be used to help students in need.

Letters, gifts, orders... Life is already tough enough carrying numerous 'messages,' yet he sought out places to share his love once again.

Yoo Yong-sik (56), a postal worker at Daegu Dalseong Post Office, generously donated 1 million won in scholarship funds on the 2nd to the Gyeongsan City Scholarship Foundation to help students in need.

He has been working for 33 years, having served in Yeongcheon and Gyeongju before arriving at the current Dalseong Post Office.

Mr. Yoo said, "Living in Gyeongsan and approaching retirement, I wanted to find a meaningful way to help local students, and I decided to donate hoping it would assist students from financially difficult families."

He added, "It is small, but I hope it will be a source of strength for the students."

Yoo Yong-sik also donated scholarship funds to the Yeongcheon City Scholarship Foundation while working at Yeongcheon Post Office from 2009 to 2011. He simply wanted to help students continue their education. For the juniors in his hometown of Yeongcheon, he donated 1 million won each to Yeongcheon Middle School and Yeongdong High School. He found joy in contributing to nurturing talent.

That was not all. He has been continuously donating monthly to relief organizations such as "Together with Love Field," "UNICEF," and to support patients with cerebral palsy.

The world has never forgotten him. He received commendations from the Minister and the Governor honoring his dedication, and he was also selected as an exemplary public official (postal worker).
