[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] A commotion occurred when an environmental activist ran onto the court during the French Open tennis tournament, causing the match to be suspended.

On the 3rd (local time) at Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, the French Open men's singles semifinal match between Casper Ruud (Norway) and Marin ?ili? (Croatia) took place.

During the third set, with the set score tied at 1-1, a woman entered the court and tied her body to the net.

The woman was wearing a shirt with the phrase "We have 1028 days left." This is interpreted to mean that due to rapid changes in the Earth's condition caused by climate change, humanity's final days are approaching.

The French Tennis Federation stated, "The woman who ran onto the court entered the venue after presenting a ticket." The French Tennis Federation handed her over to the police.

The woman explained the reason for entering the court on the website of the environmental activist group she belongs to, saying, "We are living in 2022 and must face reality," and "We could not risk doing nothing despite facing a climate emergency."

Previously, at the 2009 French Open, a fan ran onto the court during the men's singles final and tried to approach Roger Federer (Switzerland) while he was playing.

In the 2013 men's singles final, a person wearing a mask entered the court carrying a torch.
