[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] On the 100th day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, June 3 (local time), the U.S. administration under Joe Biden urged Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, to end the war.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated in a press release that "For 100 days since President Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine, the world has witnessed the courage and determination of the Ukrainian people fighting for their homeland," adding, "Ukraine will prevail."
Secretary Blinken said, "As President Biden has said, our goal is simple. We want to see a democratic, independent, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine that can deter aggression and defend itself."
He continued, "We call on President Putin to immediately end this conflict and all the suffering and global upheaval caused by the war he chose."
Secretary Blinken emphasized, "Neither the United States nor our allies and partners seek to prolong the war to inflict pain on Russia," adding, "We have great respect for the Russian people. They are not our enemies and deserve a better future than what the ongoing war and increasing repression bring."
He also stated, "The United States stands with Ukrainians who have been torn apart by violence, lost loved ones, and whose apartments, schools, hospitals, and towns have been attacked by bombs and missiles, and who have been sent to Russian detention camps," confirming to the Ukrainians, "We will help you defend your sovereignty and territorial integrity, and rebuild once this war ends."
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Secretary Blinken revealed that since the outbreak of the war, the United States has provided over $6.3 billion (approximately 7.85 trillion won) in security, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
