[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Kyobo Book Centre signed a business agreement with video content company Merry Christmas on Thursday, the 2nd, in Gwanghwamun. The two companies agreed to jointly plan and develop IPs capable of OSMU.
The first collaborative project is "Heodo: Pa and Changgui." Although it centers on distinctly Korean themes and characters, it is a fantasy action genre work that people worldwide can relate to and enjoy excitingly. Three writers?Kim Bokyung, a master of characters in the web novel world; Cha Sohee, a star web novelist with 770,000 readers; and Cheon Seonran, an SF novelist who captivated the MZ generation?have joined forces to create a spectacular story.
Kyobo Book Centre has discovered numerous stories over the past 10 years that have been promoted as OSMU in various forms such as movies and dramas. Works that have met viewers through video include JTBC's "Joseon Marriage Workshop: Flower Party" (writer Kim Irang), "Luwak Human" (writer Kang Hanbit), TVING Original (tvN) "Welcome to Witch's Restaurant," and KBS's "Listen to My Song" (writer Ivna).
Other major works currently being prepared for video adaptation include "Pure Boxer Lee Gwonsuk," "Shift," "Goshiman," "The Man I Killed Has Returned," "Piercing Heart," "Pung," "The Case Solving of the Handsome Man," "Purgatory Mechanic," "Hansung Freemason," "Swallowing the College Entrance Exam," "Underage," "Double," and "Children of God."
Kyobo Book Centre plans to continuously plan, develop, and participate in production of stories that people worldwide can relate to, together with various partners such as Showbox, Studio S, and Lotte Cultureworks.
