Police Refer to Prosecutors Applying Serious Injury Charges
A man in his 30s who followed a woman on her way home and repeatedly assaulted her, causing injury, has been sent to the prosecution.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] A man who followed a woman returning home in the early morning, assaulted her indiscriminately, and fled has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 2nd, Busanjin Police Station in Busan announced that they had sent a man in his 30s, Mr. A, to the prosecution on charges of serious injury.
Mr. A is accused of assaulting a woman, Ms. B, who was returning home around 5 a.m. on May 22 at the entrance of a officetel common door in Busanjin-gu, causing her injury.
According to the police, Mr. A followed Ms. B and assaulted her several times, including kicking her. Ms. B suffered injuries such as a scalp laceration but is reported to be in a condition without life-threatening injuries.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I drank a lot with acquaintances, and I thought Ms. B said something bad as she passed by, so I followed and assaulted her."
A police official said, "Since the victim sustained serious injuries, we applied charges of serious injury for strong punishment," adding, "We will actively support the victim's medical expenses and recovery."
