[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency conducted career exploration experiences and school violence prevention education for elementary and middle school students using helicopters and drones.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 1st that on May 31, it conducted education in Yokjido, Tongyeong City, Gyeongnam, using the domestically produced helicopter, the Chamsuri helicopter (KUH-1P), and state-of-the-art police drones.
According to a police agency official, this education was prepared to provide career exploration experiences and school violence prevention education to students in island villages who usually have limited access to cultural opportunities.
In preparation for emergency situations occurring in island village security sites, practical training was also conducted to enable rapid and efficient deployment through cooperation between police helicopters and police drones.
A total of 62 students from Yokji Middle School and Wollyang Elementary School, along with officials from the Tongyeong Office of Education, participated in the experience education.
Before the experience and education, there was a ceremony for the delivery of sports equipment to commemorate the event between Son Seongmin, Head of Customer Support at Korea Aerospace Industries Co., Ltd. (KAI), and the Superintendent of the Tongyeong Office of Education.
Subsequently, led by the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency aviation team members, students assembled police model helicopters, learned about helicopter structure and form, flight principles, operated actual helicopters, and gained understanding of aviation-related careers such as pilots and mechanics.
A demonstration flight of state-of-the-art police drones, drone soccer experience, and school violence prevention education were also conducted.
Park Changrae, head of the aviation team, said, “I hope that through this experience, students will understand careers in the aviation field and find career paths that suit their characteristics and aptitudes,” adding, “We will continue meaningful events like today’s every year.”
