[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Gimcheon City, Gyeongbuk Province, excludes enlisted soldiers, soldiers returning from leave, and inmates of Ministry of Justice facilities (correctional facilities, immigration detention centers, juvenile protection institutions) from the PCR test targets at public health center screening clinics according to the adjustment of priority test subjects by quarantine authorities.
This measure follows the phased testing strategy revision by quarantine authorities to focus testing and management resources on protecting high-risk groups in infection-vulnerable facilities such as nursing hospitals and nursing homes.
Accordingly, enlisted soldiers, soldiers returning from leave, and inmates of correctional facilities, who have relatively lower risk of progressing to severe illness or death compared to high-risk groups in infection-vulnerable facilities, are excluded from the PCR test targets at public health center screening clinics.
The PCR test targets at public health center screening clinics are adjusted to include ▲elderly aged 60 and above ▲persons requiring COVID-19 testing based on medical institution doctors' opinions ▲persons epidemiologically linked (cohabiting family members of confirmed cases, overseas entrants) ▲workers at infection-vulnerable facilities such as nursing hospitals ▲individuals testing positive on personal rapid antigen tests ▲patients and one caregiver (resident caregiver) before hospital admission at medical institutions.
A public health center official said, “We hope Gimcheon citizens check the test eligibility before visiting the public health center screening clinics and comply with quarantine rules such as wearing masks during their visit to ensure safe testing.”
