[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) is launching a large-scale recruitment covering all office technical positions, including design, production management, and procurement, for both new graduates and experienced professionals. This news is like a "rain in a drought" for the shipbuilding industry, which is suffering from a "labor shortage" on production sites despite the booming order situation that requires more workers. However, since this recruitment does not include on-site production positions, attention is expected to focus on whether hiring in this sector will increase in the future.

On the 31st, Daewoo Shipbuilding announced that it will conduct recruitment across all office technical fields and has posted job announcements on the company's recruitment website and job portal sites. Applications will be accepted until the 12th of next month. Candidates will undergo document screening and interviews, with onboarding procedures scheduled to be completed from the end of next month through mid-July, depending on the job category.

To quickly secure outstanding talent, the recruitment process will be significantly simplified. The aptitude test previously conducted after document screening will be omitted, and English conversation interviews will only be held for sales, business management, and procurement positions, while other positions will accept official language proficiency test scores instead.

DSME's large-scale recruitment this time is aimed at attracting top talent and preparing for the future in anticipation of a boom, having exceeded order targets since last year. It is expected to greatly contribute to nurturing shipbuilding and marine experts, which have been disrupted due to the industry's prolonged downturn in recent years. A DSME official said, "According to shipbuilding market experts, shipbuilding companies have recently exceeded their order targets, showing signs of recovery from the prolonged downturn," and added, "We hope for many applications from fresh talents with both skills and character."
