[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] On the 28th, Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, commented on IBK Industrial Bank of Korea President Yoon Jong-won's refusal to accept the position of Minister for Government Policy Coordination in the new administration, saying, "It would have been better if it had happened a little sooner, but I am truly grateful that he faced public opinion directly and stepped down."

Floor leader Kwon made these remarks after a campaign rally in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, when speaking with reporters. He had repeatedly expressed opposition to Yoon's appointment, citing responsibility for the failure of the Moon Jae-in administration's economic policies. Yoon served as the chief economic secretary during the Moon administration.

Regarding the increase in early voting rates for the June 1 local elections, he said, "The party has been focusing on encouraging early voting," adding, "All members of the National Assembly have voted early. We will establish the formula that early voting equals victory for the People Power Party."

On the failure to pass the second supplementary budget bill in the plenary session, he stated, "There are still differences of opinion with the Democratic Party," and added, "We will narrow the gaps and make further efforts so that it will definitely pass tomorrow, bringing joy to self-employed individuals and small business owners."
