[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee announced on the 27th that it donated 10 new electric sports utility vehicles (SUVs) of the EQA model to 10 social welfare institutions and facilities nationwide.


The delivery ceremony was held the previous day at the Mercedes Gangnam Jagok showroom. Members of the Social Contribution Committee, dealer representatives, and officials from social welfare institutions across the country attended. Thomas Klein, chairman of the committee, said, "The vehicle donation project is intended to provide more direct and practical assistance to social welfare institutions where safe and convenient transportation is of utmost importance," adding, "We will continue this effort to expand support throughout society."


At the ceremony, Jang-ryang, director of Bedani Dongsan, said, "Our residential facility for people with developmental disabilities is located in an outlying area with poor transportation conditions, and the only vehicle we had was an old car used for 12 years," adding, "With the donated vehicle, facility users can safely receive regular medical care and outpatient treatment, and we can actively support cultural activities."


In addition, Sandol School, a developmental disability alternative school in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, and Nasa Ham Developmental Disability Welfare Center in Busan received vehicles and a total of over 700 million KRW, including three years of automobile insurance for each vehicle. This donation is part of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee's activities and the "Together with Mercedes-Benz" campaign. Since its inception in 2016, 44 Mercedes-Benz vehicles have been donated to 43 social welfare institutions up to this year.
