[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Maeil Dairies announced on the 27th that it has launched a healthy fermented carbonated beverage, The Great Tea Kombucha.
Kombucha is a fermented beverage made by adding the beneficial bacteria SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast) to brewed black tea and green tea to induce fermentation. During the fermentation process, carbonation and probiotics are produced, providing a refreshing sensation when drinking and aiding digestion and stomach health.
The Great Tea Kombucha, a newly introduced functional food by Maeil Dairies, contains 4g of plant-based prebiotic 'guar gum hydrolysate,' known to help increase beneficial gut bacteria. Additionally, it includes 4g of dietary fiber, equivalent to 1.9 bananas, designed to fulfill the daily dietary fiber deficiency of Koreans. The recipe was developed directly by Maeil Dairies' professional tea sommelier and combines the fermentation expertise of D?ller, a German company with 183 years of tradition, undergoing double fermentation to deliver a clean fermented flavor.
The Great Tea Kombucha is available in two varieties: Original and Berry Rich. The Original features carbonation that aids refreshment, blended with lemon myrtle, Jeju organic green tea, and Darjeeling black tea, characterized by a clean fermented flavor. The Berry Rich boasts a tangy taste with seven types of berries and lychee juice added. The volume is 300ml, and the calorie content is 90 Kcal.
The new product, The Great Tea Kombucha, will be exclusively sold on Kakao Makers until the 5th of next month, and thereafter will be available at Maeil Dairies' Naver brand store, major online shopping malls, and department stores.
