"Unfairly Accused of Abuse for Giving 1-Star on Delivery App"...Mother and Daughter Fined for Refund Row at Yangju BBQ Restaurant

"Unfairly Accused of Abuse for Giving 1-Star on Delivery App"...Mother and Daughter Fined for Refund Row at Yangju BBQ Restaurant A mother and daughter who caused a disturbance at a barbecue restaurant demanding a refund were fined.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] The prosecution has requested fines for a pastor mother and daughter who caused a disturbance demanding a refund at a meat restaurant in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, and then verbally abused the staff through phone calls and text messages.

According to the legal community on the 26th, at the sentencing hearing held yesterday at the Uijeongbu District Court Criminal Division 5 (presided over by Judge Park Su-wan), the prosecution requested the court to impose a fine of 5 million won on Pastor A, who is charged with attempted extortion. Additionally, a fine of 3 million won was requested for her daughter B, who was indicted on charges including threats and defamation.

The mother and daughter dined at a meat restaurant in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, around 7 p.m. on May 26 last year, and demanded a refund from the owner, C, on the grounds that "other customers sitting nearby made them uncomfortable." During this process, A reportedly used abusive language and made threatening remarks, while her daughter B is said to have made false reservations or conducted review rating attacks against the restaurant.

In her final statement, A reportedly pleaded, "I am willing to accept strict punishment, but my daughter is still young. Please show leniency." B, crying, stated, "This incident was so difficult that I even moved. Nowadays, it is okay to leave negative reviews such as giving a '1' rating on delivery apps, but publicizing it as an abuse of power is too much."

In fact, the mother and daughter reported the meat restaurant for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, but the city hall announced the investigation results confirming that quarantine rules were followed.
