[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City held the 'National Merit Memorial Tablet Enshrinement Ceremony for this year' at the Chung-hon Tower Square in Deoksu-dong, Buk-gu, to commemorate the Month of Patriots and Veterans in June.

The enshrinement ceremony was organized by three veterans' organizations (Disabled Veterans Association, Bereaved Families of Fallen Soldiers Association, Widows of Fallen Soldiers Association) and was held solemnly with about 60 attendees including heads of veterans' organizations and bereaved families, honoring the spirits of the national patriots.

The tablets enshrined on this day were for 59 national patriots who passed away in the past year. Currently, a total of 2,789 tablets of patriotic martyrs are enshrined at the Chung-hon Tower in Pohang City.

Hansangho, Director of the Welfare Bureau, said, "We express our deep respect and gratitude to the national patriots and their families who sacrificed their lives for the country and its people," adding, "We will strive to ensure that the noble spirit of sacrifice of the martyrs is widely passed down to future generations."

The city holds the memorial tablet enshrinement ceremony every year at the end of May on Memorial Day for national patriots who had Pohang City as their residence and passed away in the past year.
