Korail Gwangju Jeonnam Conducts Special Inspection of Electrical Facilities in Preparation for Heatwave

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Korea Railroad Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters announced on the 26th that it has conducted a special inspection of electrical facilities such as overhead lines and signal and communication equipment over the past two weeks in preparation for the summer heatwave.

Electrical facilities are highly vulnerable to heat, and identifying and improving weak points before a heatwave occurs is essential to ensure safe train operation.

The inspection aimed to identify and address potential issues caused by the summer heatwave, such as sagging overhead lines and problems with cooling devices in functional rooms like signal relay rooms.

A comprehensive inspection was conducted on 544 automatic tension adjustment devices for overhead lines and 116 cooling devices in functional rooms, uncovering 19 safety vulnerabilities that are currently being addressed.

A representative from Korail Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters stated, “Since the number of heatwave days this summer is expected to be longer than usual, we will thoroughly manage facilities such as electrical equipment to ensure there are no gaps in safe train operation.”
