[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] The Federation of Korean Industries (hereinafter referred to as FKI) has taken active steps to achieve a 70% employment rate and create 1 million new jobs.

On the 26th, FKI announced the establishment of the "Advanced Job Committee (tentative name)" to achieve these goals, aiming to encourage companies to create jobs and promote employment support projects for vulnerable groups. The committee will be composed of business leaders, experts, and political figures.

First, considering that companies have recently announced bold investment and job creation plans, FKI plans to identify difficulties that may arise during the implementation process and propose specific improvement measures. In addition, while there is investment demand, FKI will actively discover promising industries with high job creation effects that have not been pursued due to obstacles, and will also consider ways to enhance labor market flexibility and establish cooperative labor-management relations to create an employment-friendly environment.

Furthermore, projects that can directly help vulnerable groups such as young people struggling to find jobs and women with career interruptions will be significantly expanded. Customized job fairs targeting high school graduates, middle-aged people, and women with career interruptions who are in the job blind spots will be held to explore ways to expand their opportunities for economic participation.

Moreover, to nurture future talents who will lead the Korean economy, about 700 people will be selected annually to provide various programs such as economic education, startup study groups, and career counseling mentoring. Kwon Tae-shin, the standing vice chairman, stated, “The Advanced Job Committee will not only increase the quantity of jobs but also develop quality job projects that meet the expectations and standards of the people,” adding, “FKI will actively support making jobs as advanced as the status of Korea as an advanced economy.”

Meanwhile, as the first project of the ‘Advanced Job Project,’ FKI held the Value Walk campaign to support the social advancement of youth preparing for independence. The Value Walk campaign, held over four days starting from this day, was co-hosted by Brothers Keeper, a social enterprise supporting youth preparing for independence. Nine companies including KB Financial Group, Lotte, Samyang Group, Asiana Airlines, Hanwha, Hyundai Mobis, POSCO, Coupang, and Persol Kelly Korea provided full support through economic and financial education, employment mentoring, industrial site visits, and vocational training.

At the encouragement luncheon, Huh Chang-soo, chairman of FKI, emphasized, “I hope more companies will join the Value Walk so that youth preparing for independence can settle as members of society,” and added, “For standing together rather than standing alone, FKI will also contribute to sharing knowledge and experience within the economic community.”
