[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] President Yoon Seok-yeol has appointed three special assistant prosecutors requested by Special Prosecutor Ahn Mi-young (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 25), who is in charge of investigating the death case of Air Force sexual violence victim, the late Sergeant Lee Ye-ram.
The special assistant prosecutors include lawyer Yoo Byung-doo (class 26), lawyer Lee Tae-seung (class 26) from the law firm Pyeongsan, and lawyer Son Young-eun (class 31) from the law firm Gwangjang. All three are former prosecutors. Special Assistant Prosecutor Yoo Byung-doo was commissioned as a prosecutor at Daegu District Prosecutors' Office in 1998, served as head of the Criminal Division 2 at Busan District Prosecutors' Office, professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, chief of Anyang branch of Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, and after finishing his public service, opened a law practice in 2020.
Special Assistant Prosecutor Lee Tae-seung began his public service career as a prosecutor at Busan District Prosecutors' Office in 1997, served as head of the Public Security Division at Busan District Prosecutors' Office, director of the National Litigation Department at the Ministry of Justice, chief of Masan branch of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office, and retired in 2019 after serving as deputy chief prosecutor at Bucheon branch of Incheon District Prosecutors' Office. In 2014, while serving as director of the National Litigation Department at the Ministry of Justice, he also acted as the chief representative during the Constitutional Court's dissolution trial of the Unified Progressive Party.
Special Assistant Prosecutor Son Young-eun was commissioned as a prosecutor at Busan District Prosecutors' Office in 2002, worked at Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, and Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and left the prosecution after serving as deputy chief prosecutor at the Eastern branch of Busan District Prosecutors' Office in 2016. She currently also serves as an adjunct professor at Ewha Womans University.
Special Prosecutor Ahn met with Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon and Vice Minister of Justice Lee No-gong on the 24th, the day after requesting the appointment of the special assistant prosecutors from President Yoon, to discuss issues such as the dispatch of prosecutors. The Ministry of Justice is reportedly discussing the scale of prosecutor dispatch centered around the Prosecutors' Office.
