Gwangju and Jeonnam Early Heatwave Eases from 26th... Temperatures Return to Seasonal Norms

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] The early heatwave that hit Gwangju and Jeonnam is expected to ease starting from the 26th.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 25th, the weather, influenced by a high-pressure system over the West Sea, has been clear and temperatures have risen, but from the 26th, temperatures are expected to drop to average levels (morning low temperatures 13~16°C, daytime high temperatures 23~27°C).

On the morning of the 26th, the lowest temperatures will be distributed as follows: Suncheon and Yeosu at 17°C, Gwangju, Mokpo, Gwangyang, Wando, Gangjin, and Goheung at 16°C. The daytime high temperatures are expected to be 29°C in Suncheon and Gwangyang, and 27°C in Damyang, Hwasun, Gurye, Gangjin, Jangheung, and Boseong.

Currently, shower clouds are forming mainly over the eastern inland areas of Jeonnam, and as temperatures rise during the day, the atmosphere is becoming unstable, causing showers in some areas.

Wave heights in the southern West Sea and southwestern South Sea are predicted to be between 0.5m and 1m.

A meteorological official advised, “In some parts of eastern Jeonnam where showers may occur, gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning are expected, and there is also a possibility of hail, so caution is needed to prevent safety accidents.”
