[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] The SK Innovation board of directors visited the SK Energy business site and embarked on their first on-site management since the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 25th, the SK Innovation board visited the SK Bakmi Gas Station in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and then held the 6th on-site board meeting at the SK Yangpyeong Building in Yeongdeungpo-gu. Attendees included Kim Jong-hoon, chairman of the SK Innovation board, Vice Chairman Kim Jun, outside directors Kim Jung-kwan, Kim Tae-jin, Park Jin-hoe, Choi Woo-seok, and key executives from SK Energy.
The SK Innovation board has annually visited major domestic and overseas business sites to hold on-site board meetings to enhance business understanding, but this was temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. Starting with this meeting, they plan to fully resume on-site management activities.
The SK Bakmi Gas Station operates the country's first "Energy Superstation." It is an innovative gas station-based business model that uses electricity produced from distributed power sources such as solar power and fuel cells to charge electric vehicles. SK Energy utilized the regulatory sandbox system to participate in the government's distributed energy activation strategy and opened the nation's first Energy Superstation in February.

Chairman Kim said, "The Energy Superstation, which produces eco-friendly energy through fuel cells and solar power generation, is expected to become a successful energy transition model for achieving carbon neutrality. We hope it will contribute to SK Innovation's net-zero goals and serve as a catalyst for the expansion of distributed power generation at the national level."
Following this, the board held a meeting at the SK Yangpyeong Building, received reports on the current status of marketing sites, and deliberated on board agenda items.
An SK Innovation official explained, "As the importance of board-centered management increases, the SK Innovation board's close on-site management will be promoted more actively."
