[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will publicly recruit 10,000 first-round participants for the 'Youth Welfare Points' program to improve the welfare and treatment of young workers in the province from June 2 to 17.
Youth Welfare Points is a project that provides welfare points worth 1.2 million KRW annually to young workers aged 18 to 34 residing in the province who work at least 36 hours per week at small and medium-sized enterprises, small business owners, or non-profit organizations in the province, with a monthly salary of 2.9 million KRW or less. Those fulfilling military service obligations have their application age extended up to 39 years by the length of their service period.
This year, the total number of Youth Welfare Points recipients will be 30,000, with 10,000 recruited in the first round, 10,000 in the second, and 10,000 in the third. Selected participants will receive welfare points worth 1.2 million KRW (300,000 KRW quarterly).
Selected recipients can use about 1.4 million items for cultural activities, self-development, health management, and family-friendly services at 'Gyeonggi Youth Mall,' an exclusive online shopping space for Youth Welfare Points. However, recipients must verify eligibility conditions such as residence, business size, and working hours every three months.
Applications can be submitted online at the Youth Worker Support Project website (http://youth.jobaba.net).
The province will comprehensively evaluate applicants based on monthly salary, workplace tenure, and duration of residence in Gyeonggi Province, and announce the final selected participants on June 30.
From the first round of this year's Youth Welfare Points recruitment, the public MyData service will be applied to simplify and facilitate the submission of documents during the application process.
If applicants agree to use public MyData, they can apply for the 'Youth Welfare Points' without submitting documents such as resident registration abstracts, four major insurance subscription details, or health insurance payment certificates, significantly reducing cases of disqualification due to simple errors like missing documents.
For more details about the application, contact the Gyeonggi Job Foundation Counseling Call Center at 1577-0014.
A provincial official said, "Youth Welfare Points are designed for young workers employed at small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners with poor working conditions," adding, "We hope it will be of some help to many young workers."
