Chuncheon City Designates 'Gangdong Daejanggwan' as Local Cultural Heritage

Including 'Bonguisan Banseokpyeong Rock Inscription' and 'Yongsan-ri Hwakhyeop Ongju Taesil'

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Chuncheon City announced on the 25th that it has recently designated and announced "Gangdong Blacksmith Shop," "Bonguisan Banseokpyeong Poem Rock Inscription," and "Yongsan-ri Hwakhyeop Ongju Taesil" as Chuncheon City Local Cultural Heritage.


According to the city, "Chuncheon City Local Cultural Heritage" refers to tangible and intangible heritage and materials in the region with significant historical, academic, and artistic value that have not been designated as national or provincial cultural assets.


"Gangdong Blacksmith Shop" is currently a place that makes and sells traditional farming tools (sickles, hoes) and knives, serving as a blacksmith shop that can reproduce Chuncheon's farming tools using traditional methods.


"Bonguisan Banseokpyeong Poem Rock Inscription" is an inscription of the poem Banseokpyeong, written in the 26th year of King Jungjong's reign, carved by Ban Woo-han on the rock face of Bonguisan in the 1st year of King Yeongjo's reign.


"Yongsan-ri Hwakhyeop Ongju Taesil" is the only Taesil relic among the three Taesil sites in Chuncheon where information about the person is identifiable, and it is highly valued as a cultural heritage material.


Meanwhile, in 2017, the "Soyang-ro Stele Group" and "Soyang-ro Rock Monument Group" were designated as local cultural heritage, and in 2019, the "Balsan-ri Dolmen Group" was designated as local cultural heritage.
