[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Meritz Securities announced on the 25th that it has launched Meritz Smart Lab (Ssiat Asset), which invests in domestic stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) with advisory from Ssiat Asset Management.
Ssiat Asset Management was established in 2017 by CEO Park Hyun-jun, a star manager who operated the 'Korea Investment Navigator' fund at Korea Investment Trust Management for over 10 years. The house's main strategy is stock long-short, with portfolio managers who have over 20 years of market experience discovering quality stocks and managing positions.
Meritz Smart Lab analyzes the long-term growth potential and core technological capabilities of investee companies, then selects large-cap stocks leading market trends and undervalued small and mid-cap stocks with high growth potential to include in the investment portfolio. The stock allocation ratio is flexibly adjusted according to market conditions, and in the event of a market crash, a risk hedge strategy using derivative ETFs is employed to pursue excess market returns.
A Meritz Securities official explained, “Meritz Smart Lab aims for healthy investment based on long-term value rather than short-term performance,” adding, “The goal is to generate sustainable and stable returns by actively utilizing the expertise of Ssiat Asset Management, which has extensive management experience.”
Meritz Smart Lab is a high-difficulty product that allows derivative ETF inclusion, suitable for customers with ultra-high-risk investment tendencies, and the minimum subscription amount is 30 million KRW. The back-end fee is 1.5% per year, and a performance fee is charged depending on management results. Additional deposits and withdrawals are possible, and there is no separate early termination fee after the start of management, allowing free early termination at the desired time.
Real-time management status can be transparently checked through balance inquiries, and it is also possible to check the management status and strategy through management reports sent every quarter. Meritz Smart Lab subscriptions are available through Meritz Securities branches.
