[Featured Stock] Hyundai Movex Opens Smart Logistics for Secondary Batteries... Establishes World's Largest Cathode Material Factory

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Hyundai Movex is showing strong performance. The news that it has opened the first chapter of its smart logistics automation business related to secondary batteries appears to have influenced its stock price.

As of 9:18 AM on the 25th, Hyundai Movex is trading at 4,320 KRW, up 19.5% from the previous day.

Hyundai Movex announced that it has won a contract to build a logistics solution at LG Chem's Gumi cathode material plant. The company has decided to actively promote its smart logistics automation business in the rapidly growing secondary battery sector.

The project Hyundai Movex secured will be applied to the world's largest cathode material plant that LG Chem is constructing in Gumi, Gyeongbuk. Last month, Hyundai Movex signed a logistics solution supply contract with LG Chem's newly established subsidiary LG BCM for the Gumi cathode material plant. Using a total engineering approach that covers everything from design to construction, they will build a smart logistics system by June 2025.

Key smart logistics equipment developed with Hyundai Movex's own technology includes inbound and outbound stacker cranes and unmanned transport robots (AGV). Advanced IT logistics technologies such as warehouse management and control solutions (WMS·ECS) and AI-based predictive maintenance solutions (equipment failure and lifespan prediction systems) are also included.

The company expects that the robot transport system will secure continuity of logistics flow within the factory while enhancing safety and convenience. Previously, Hyundai Movex expanded into various fields beyond manufacturing, including distribution, by winning an automation solution contract for Coupang's Yongin fulfillment center last year.

The company stated, "Based on this contract and our excellent smart logistics automation competitiveness, we will further concretize our secondary battery logistics solution business going forward."
