[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hankook Tire & Technology has opened 'Hankook Technoring,' the largest test track in Asia. Equipped with a total of 13 tracks, Hankook Technoring will be used for various tire performance experiments necessary for product development.
On the 25th, Hankook Tire held a press day and opened the test track at Hankook Technoring, located in Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. Hankook Technoring spans 1.26 million square meters (380,000 pyeong) and features 13 diverse tracks where high-speed, noise, and ride comfort can be tested. It is the largest facility in Asia, roughly the size of 125 soccer fields.
Going forward, this facility will conduct tire performance tests essential for innovative product development, such as tires for electric vehicles and supercars. Additionally, evaluations for all types of vehicles including trucks and buses are possible. The site is fully equipped with a control tower, office building, tire workshop, and electric vehicle charging stations.
With the completion of Hankook Technoring, Hankook Tire expects synergy as the entire company becomes organically connected. This includes the headquarters 'Technoplex,' which handles mid- to long-term strategy and product planning, 'Hankook Technodome,' which develops core tire technologies, and the eight global production bases, along with Hankook Technoring responsible for testing.
Cho Hyun-bum, Chairman of Hankook Tire & Technology, stated, "We have completed Hankook Technoring, Asia's largest test track, to proactively respond to the rapidly changing mobility environment and to utilize it as a new growth engine from a mid- to long-term perspective." He emphasized, "Test tracks are among the most important facilities invested in within the automotive industry. Based on high-quality real-vehicle testing, we plan to devise ways to maximize synergy with future business and leverage this as an innovative growth engine."
