[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Se-ryeong] Hong Tae-yong, the People Power Party candidate for mayor of Gimhae, Gyeongnam, announced education-related pledges on the 24th.

Candidate Hong said, "The outflow of school-age population and young people is due to the lack of a proper education system," and added, "I am delivering innovative education pledges to prepare for the future."

He stated, "Citizens of Gimhae want proper educational infrastructure, high-quality educational infrastructure that supports the success of their children, and a lifelong education system to prepare for the aging era," and pledged, "I will communicate, work actively on the ground, and establish a long-term plan for the next hundred years."

Candidate Hong promised to create a prestigious education city through innovation in educational infrastructure.

He presented specific plans such as ▲establishing new elementary, middle, and high schools in densely populated areas like Jangyu, Juchon, and Jinyeong ▲supporting excellent high schools in the area, establishing prestigious private high schools and arts and physical education high schools ▲expanding support for the free semester system ▲building a regional innovation platform through strengthened cooperation with local universities ▲establishing industry-academia-research linked R&D infrastructure.

To create an environment where children can safely attend school, he pledged ▲environment improvement projects in child protection zones, creating smart school zone environments by expanding installation of smart crosswalks, streetlights, and CCTVs ▲promoting the distribution of children-only smart shelters (waiting spaces).

"Currently, the number of students at Gimhae Eunhye School is 286, but there are about 150 on the waiting list and about 160 students wishing to transfer to special classes," he emphasized, "I will promote the establishment of a second special school for disabled students in consultation with the education office."

Candidate Hong Tae-yong said, "The Republic of Korea is changing together with the Yoon Seok-yeol government, and now it is Gimhae's turn to change," and asked for support, saying, "Hong Tae-yong, the passionate communication king, will work hard, listen to voices from the field, and change this region together with the citizens."
