Expert Discussion on Latest Aerial Wildfire Suppression Technologies... Improvement of Aviation Safety Expertise
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The National Fire Agency announced on the 25th that it will hold the '119 Aviation Safety Seminar' from the 26th to the 27th at Sol Beach Resort in Yangyang, Gangwon Province, to improve the 'National Fire Agency Helicopter Large-scale Wildfire On-site Response Capability.'
The '119 Aviation Safety Seminar' has contributed to the development of the fire aviation safety system as a communication platform that shares the latest policies and technological trends in the field of fire aviation safety every year and discusses directions for advancement.
This seminar will share and enhance aerial firefighting technology and aviation safety expertise through six thematic presentations by 119 aviation experts from 17 fire headquarters nationwide who participated on-site, focusing on response cases and social issues related to aerial wildfire suppression following the large-scale wildfires on the East Coast.
Additionally, there will be a session explaining the direction of aviation policies promoted by the National Fire Agency this year. In particular, the seminar will present the main contents of the '119 Aviation Maintenance Office' construction project, which integrates maintenance for nationwide fire helicopters established based on the revised '119 Rescue and Emergency Medical Services Act' last year, and gather opinions.
Hong Young-geun, Director of the Equipment Technology Bureau at the National Fire Agency, stated, “With climate change and land use changes, wildfires are expected to occur more frequently. Based on the response experience from the large-scale East Coast wildfires last March, we will do our best to improve aerial firefighting technology and strengthen the aerial wildfire response system so that citizens can live more safely and conveniently from disasters.”
